Ninja Mom and friends at the Comic Art and Literacy Expo

Ren Hanami (Ninja Mom Creator/Writer), Don Schmidt (Ninja Mom Artist/Illustrator) and David J. Kono (Ninja Mom Producer) participated in the wonderful CALE focused on children and literacy along with our friends from the Sketchy Bug Group.

It was the third annual Comic Arts and Literacy Expo hosted by A Place Called Home in Los Angeles. Children from the community were treated to free comics, raffle prizes, food, and fun. It was enjoyable for us to share how our Ninja Mom and Tengonis in the Tiki came about and what is in store for the future. Hopefully, we inspired some of them to write and draw their own stories.

Thank you for being part of the Ninja Mom family! I can’t believe this is the last Ninja Mom Blog post of 2018! It has been such an honor and privilege to work with Sensei Don Schmidt and publish our first Ninja Mom book!

Thanks to Producer David J. Kono for supporting my short films. They garnered six awards in nine film festivals!

Ninja Mom Monday – December 3, 2018

Happy Monday Ninja Mom Friends!

I hope you had a wonderful Monday during this busy holiday season. I live above a mall at The Americana At Brand and it is very lively every night. There are thousands of lights, a 100-foot tall Christmas tree, twice nightly snow and lots of sales. It’s a lot like living above Main Street Disneyland 

I’m happy to invite you to 2 ninja events this week.

First, Don and I will be signing Ninja Mom and Tengonis in the Tiki books at the Uptown Village Market in Long Beach this Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5:00 – 10:00 PM. 4321 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach, California 90807. We will be at the Makersville Booth hosted by Trish Tsoiasue.

Oct 15 – Ninja Mom Monday – Book Signing at Island Bazaar

We had a wonderful time at Island Bazaar last Monday. A big Thank You, Mahalo, Arigatou to everyone who made it. Thank you Shirley Orlando for hosting our Ninja Mom and Tengonis in the Tiki book signing. One of the extra nice outcomes was donations for Waymakers Youth Shelter continued after the actual signing and a generous donation was made to help them. Big hugs to everyone for your support!

Ninja Mom Monday – October 1, 2018 – The Comic Bug

Good Ninja Mom Monday to my Ninja Mom Friends,

Thank you so much, everyone, who has come out to our book signing events, purchased a book and written a review. Below is a slideshow of our recent event at The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach.

Our next event is at Island Bazaar in Huntington Beach on Monday, October 8, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and it will benefit the Waymakers Youth Shelter. Please bring all your little ninjas for a lively storytime, cookies and sticker give-away.

Ninja Mom Monday – September 24, 2018 – Sugarfina

We had an amazing book signing event yesterday at Sugarfina Glendale. I want to thank everyone who came and bought books and candy. 15% of the proceeds are going to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and their Literally Healing Program. They give a book to every child at the hospital. Thanks also to Braedon Schmidt for manning the sales department!

We had so much fun visiting with friends, family and Americana neighbors. I read the book for two storytimes. Everyone walked away with a Ninja Mom sticker and everyone who bought the book also took home a Ninja Mom Shuriken Throwing Star Cookie! Sugarfina sampled all kinds of tasty candies and passed out punch. It was certainly a sweet event! Don’s signature on each book was also a work of art.
